Recent science and modern technology has greatly increased our understanding of natural foods and their benefit to human health. Perhaps one of the foods that have benefited most from extensive research is the bean. Beans have, in the past, been associated only with causing gas and as being high in carbs, which would probably promote weight gain. We now know, however, that the carbs found in beans are the kind known as “complex carbohydrates.” What does this mean? Put simply, complex carbs are not responsible for weight gain, but are instead a good source of energy for the body, muscles, and brain. (more…)
